A socio-cultural organisation,Yewa G6 Ambassadors, has commended the Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun, for approving the appointment of Dr. Adeoye David Odedeji, as the substantive rector of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta.

In a statement signed by the chairman of the association, Ambassador Biodun Fabuyi, on Friday, the G6 Ambassadors described the appointment of Odedeji, who is the first indigene of Yewaland to hold the position, as a welcome development and heart-gladdening.

The statement further lauded the governor for being the first governor to appoint a Yewa indigene as the rector of MAPOLY after 42 years of its establishment.

The association posited that Odedeji, apart from the first Yewa man to occupy the position, he also holds the record of being longest acting-rector of the institution, having been in acting capacity for over 30 months.

While hailing Governor Abiodun for his sense of justice, fairness and equity, the association expressed confidence that Odedeji would bring all his God-given talents, acquired skills and administrative acumen to bear in the performance of the assignment and ensure the continued growth of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta.

The statement reads: "We sincerely appreciate Governor Dapo Abiodun for setting the record as the first chief executive of Ogun State to appoint a Yewa indigene as the Rector and Chief Executive officer of the Ogun State owned polytechnic after 42 years of its establishments. Not only is Dr. Odedeji the first Yewa man to be made the Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (formerly Ogun State Polytechnic), he also holds the record of being the longest acting rector of the institution having been appointed in acting capacity over 30months ago. We therefore commend the sense of justice, fairness and equity of Prince Dapo Abiodun for the appointment.
"Having now been confirmed as the substantive rector of the institution, we are confident that Dr. Odedeji will bring all his God-given talents, acquired skills and administrative acumen to bear in the performance of the assignment and ensure the continued growth of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic. It is instructive to state that in the last 30 months of leading the institution in acting capacity, Dr. Odedeji has maintained relative peace and tranquility within the students, academic and non academic staff despite the many challenges facing the polytechnic.
