Chelsea defender, Thiago Silva, has identified Trevoh Chalobah as the ‘future of Chelsea’.
Silva believes Chalobah will be a mainstay at Chelsea for years to come.
Chalobah has quickly established himself as a first-team regular player under manager Thomas Tuchel, making 12 appearances in all competitions for the west London club so far this season.
Recall that the 22-year-old centre-back impressed Tuchel during Chelsea’s pre-season campaign and was given his first-team debut against Villarreal in the Super Cup in August 2021.
“He [Chalobah] is a player despite being so young who plays like an experienced professional,” Silva told Chelsea TV.
“And that makes me really happy because I am there alongside him playing the same position and I can see how he is performing, how he is developing.
“Not just anybody can do this, can step up to a team like Chelsea and perform and he is not doing it because of my help, he is doing it because of his own abilities.
“He is a player who I knew from France where he was playing at a lower level for Lorient and he has made the step up and he is playing here because he deserves to.
“Some people said that he didn’t have the ability to do so, but he has made it because of his own capacities. That is something that makes me really happy because a player like Trevoh Chalobah is the future of this club.”
Chalobah recently scored a goal in Chelsea’s Champions League 4-0 victory over Juventus last month.
